Repaid through property tax
The cost is paid back through your property tax bill over the term, instead of all up front.
The Clean Energy Improvement Program lets you pay for insulation through your property taxes. Aires is a CEIP Qualified Contractor for Edmonton and participating municipalities.
Attic top-upCEIP (the Clean Energy Improvement Program) is financing for energy upgrades that you repay on your property tax bill over up to 25 years. Aires Spray Foam & Insulation is a CEIP Qualified Contractor for Edmonton and surrounding participating municipalities, so insulation we install can be part of a CEIP project.
Alberta Municipalities administers the program, and each city or town decides whether to take part. Edmonton does. If you live outside Edmonton, check whether your municipality participates before you plan around it.
Four rules cover most of what homeowners ask us.
The cost is paid back through your property tax bill over the term, instead of all up front.
Terms run as long as 25 years, which keeps the yearly amount down on a bigger project.
The balance is tied to the house. If you sell before it's paid off, the remaining payments can transfer with the property.
You can use CEIP alongside other rebate programs on the same work.
Not every insulation job counts. CEIP sets minimum levels, and the work has to reach them.
Residential projects also need at least three qualifying upgrades, unless the home reaches net zero. Insulation can cover two of those (attic and basement), and the third is usually something else from the program's list. Your EnerGuide evaluation will show which upgrades make sense for your house.
For an Edmonton attic, R-50 usually means blowing fibreglass or cellulose well past the depth that's up there now. See attic insulation in Edmonton. For basement walls, closed cell foam gets past R-12 in a couple of inches. See basement and rim joist insulation.

Follow them in order. The install comes last, after the agreement is signed.
Start at myceip.ca. You'll confirm your municipality takes part and that your property is eligible.
An energy advisor assesses the house and recommends upgrades. This is where you find out which three upgrades fit.
Ask Qualified Contractors to quote the work. We visit, measure and write a quote for the insulation that meets the CEIP thresholds.
Your application goes in with the quotes. Intake is first-come, first-served, so don't sit on it.
Once the project is approved, you sign the CEIP agreement.
We do the work with documented quality checks, and the job carries our one-year workmanship warranty.
Our part is the insulation. We look at the attic, basement or walls, quote to the CEIP levels, and install. If an attic needs old wood chips or wet insulation pulled out first, that goes in the quote too. See insulation removal.
We'll also tell you if something on the EnerGuide report isn't worth doing in your house, or if the attic needs venting fixed before the top-up.
One customer, Eric Boulianne, said we "made getting the rebate a really simple process as well."
Have your EnerGuide report? Send it with your request and we'll quote from it. More on our local work is on the Edmonton page, and all our insulation types are under insulation services.
